Cumulative new-energy-vehicle production crossed 10 million units at an employee ceremony in Shenzhen. The milestone was reached 12 years after the launch of the F3DM plug-in hybrid in 2008. Chairman Wang Chuanfu announced the 20-million-unit target for late 2027.
The change takes effect against a backdrop of sustained global expansion: BYD's headcount outside China has tripled since 2022, and overseas volume is on track to represent approximately 25% of total deliveries by end of 2026. Executive-level localisation — including country and regional presidents — is part of a broader programme to embed the company deeper in each of its major markets.
"Putting the right leadership on the ground in each region is how we make BYD feel like a home-market brand, not an import," said Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD. "Our best markets are the ones where we have embedded the deepest."
The appointment is effective September 4, 2025. Transition activities will run through the quarter to ensure continuity with customers, dealer partners, and regional stakeholders.
