The Yangwang U9 Track Edition was unveiled at the Guangzhou auto show, producing 1,300 horsepower from four in-wheel motors with torque-vectoring active suspension. Production is limited to 99 units globally. Sticker price is $1.68 million. All units were allocated within 72 hours of the reveal.
The announcement extends BYD's strategy of launching a regionally-adapted trim of each model within six months of its China debut. Sealion-series vehicles — built on the e-Platform 3.0 Evo — account for roughly one in four BYD deliveries outside China and are the company's fastest-growing export line. Standard DiPilot driver assistance, once reserved for premium trims, is now entry-level across the international lineup.
"Every model we ship internationally has to earn its place against the best local incumbents — this one does," said Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD. "The combination of real-world range, Blade Battery 2.0 safety, and DiPilot v5 standard is now the benchmark for the segment."
Pre-orders open through BYD's direct-to-consumer channel and authorised retail partners in each launch market from November 8, 2024. Deliveries begin this summer in North America and Europe, with ASEAN, Middle East and Oceania deliveries following in Q3. Configurators and local pricing are live on bydautomotivegroup.com.
